Have you ever been to a one-stop haven for the Pinoy and Chinese food aficionados? We just did one Sunday when my husband suggested that we try to have lunch at PVL located at 84-L Lopez corner F. Ortigas Sts. in Mandaluyong City.

We first came to hear about PVL when PVL was featured in “Kay Susan Tayo” TV show. It is reportedly popular for its giant siopao.

PVL consists of clusters food is the Good Eats outlets that combines Filipino and Chinese delicacies and caters to all socio-demographic strata of the market within a single block.

For the general masses, there is the Good Eats serving Pinoy dishes and Chinese-inspired PVL Noodle House for noodles and dimsum. The PVL Food Center is the high-end fine dining restaurant. There are also grocery areas, fruit stand, pasalubong and dessert areas via the Mini Max and Pasalubong, atbp.

And of course, there is the PVL Grill House — the one we actually decided we’d have lunch at. Our menu choices were sinigang na maya maya sa miso, adobong kambing, bottomless iced tea and cups after cups of rice. We had watermelon and chocolate maja blanca for dessert.

I realize that a city dweller doesn’t need to go very far to get that “being in the resort” feeling. Try having lunch at the PVL Grill House and you will know what I mean. It’s probably the lay-out of the restaurant and the outdoor set-up. What’s great is that the place has lots of air humidifier and fans to address the summer heat. Perfect place to have lunch this summertime.
