Nowadays, we don’t have to go quite far or outside Manila in order to enjoy the great sights of the underwater.

We were blessed to be among the earliest visitors of Manila Ocean Park ever since it opened in February 29, 2008. This water theme park is the Philippines’ first state-of-the-art Oceanarium located at the back of the Quirino Grandstand.

When Kit, Kyle and I went there, we were also with my husband’s cousins. Since we have dropped off to the entrance area and even during the purchase of the tickets, our cameras got busy as the areas surrounding us were truly click-worthy.

Manila Ocean Park was not as huge as I thought the main attraction lies in the underwater tunnel of the “Buhay na Karagatan” area. This is where our cameras clicked non-stop.

Manila Ocean Park, Oceanarium is a 25-meter long walkway tunnel with 220-degree curved acrylic walls similarly seen in Ocean Park Hong Kong, Singapore’s Underwater World in Sentosa, Siam’s Ocean World in Bangkok, Thailand and Kuala Lumpur’s Aquaria in Malaysia. The difference between MOP’s is a 220-degree curved tunnel as compared to the standard 180-degree curved tunnels seen in other Asian countries.”

We enjoyed the sights of the open water marine habitat and this is where our cameras clicked non-stop. We could’ve lingered had we known that once you’ve reached the end of the tunnel, you will not be able to go back to the tunnel. This could probably be the remedy of the management for the jam-packed visitors of the place.

Nevertheless, visiting Manila Ocean Park is a fun experience one should take as well as a spot that every Filipino should be proud of.
