I am very eager to know about old restaurants in the Philippines. Last week I was able to see a teaser from one of the programs in a local television featuring the oldest restaurants in the country located in some old street of Manila. Sadly I missed to watch that show that’s why I will have to find out what are those things you are about to see if you will visit and dine in one of the oldest restaurants in the country. Most of these restaurants are located in Manila. Hopefully it doesn’t change the way it was looked some 50 years or more ago.
Some of these restaurants still showcase those things that are featured during those years. Through them you get to see things that were use before are still present. But most of all, the flavor of the food are the same as what they were a long time ago. With the advent of digital signage from the modern fast food chain and restaurants, you will really miss to see some hand painted signage, drawing and billboards and hand written menus usually old restaurants were using before.
In my next post, I hope I will feature oldest restaurants I already visited like:
1) 1888 AMBOS MUNDOS / TOHO FOOD CENTER TOHO ANTIGUA (Recto Manila)
2) 1894 PANCITERIA SAN JACINTO New SAN Jacinto Food Center CORP. (Quezon Avenue)
3) 1920 MA MON LUK (Quezon Avenue )
4) 1929 RAMON LEE FRIED CHICKEN (Sta. Cruz, Manila)
5) 1936 ARISTOCRAT (Roxaz Boulevard)
6) 1940 ONGPIN MANOSA (Ongpin, Manila)
7) 1949 RODIC’S & LITTLE QUIAPO
8)1950 SAVORY (Escolta, Manila)
9) 1955 WAH SUN (Recto, Manila)
10) 1920 I’l Ideal Bakery and Restaurant (Silay, Neg. Occ.)

Since birth I always go to San Jacinto, Bec. My Lola Gayong always prapare my favorite Pancit and Hamonado in San Jacinto…My Tita Nancy owned the Resto….Thats why I really Love the food in San Jacinto.
when i’m still working in Philippines, my friends always invite me to eat there. But without they knowing, that my Tita owned the resto, thats why they got discount after they pay the bills…
I hope on my upcoming vacation, I will go and eat all the food i want…Specially the pancit
I came across your review on the restaurant Ambos Mundos, and then eventually it led me to your website. Your comments are great and straightforward. I admire your honesty and I felt that - at last! - a Filipino who says it like it is.

Florentino Torres is parallel to Avenida Rizal. Wah Sun is just located very near Recto.. Take LRT to Recto and walk towards the direction of Divisoria, passing Avenida Rizal and then Florentino Torres. Turn left and you will see on your right side Wah Sun Cantonese Restaurant and on your left Ambos Mundos (the oldest Restaurant in Quaipo area which is serving Spanish/Filipino food)
