What started as a search for a Chinese fastfood for merienda turned out to be a nostalgic afternoon for me. I didn’t realize that Ling Nam was revived until now when I saw it in Greenbelt 1 in Makati.
I looked back during the late 70s and I was still in prep, my mother would take us to Ling Nam every weekend. It was located in “Glorietta” nearly across Syvel’s Department Store in Makati. Glorietta then was far different from what it is now. It was known as a park and Ling Name was somewhere in the middle. Our order would usually be beef noodles, mongo siopao and sago at gulaman for beverage.
As I grew up and as Glorietta would be developed, I saw less and less of Ling Nam until it disappeared.
Decades later and fast forward to the present, I was really excited to dine in at Ling Nam and ordered almost all of what I used to order (minus sago and gulaman). I’m so happy that Ling Nam manages to maintain the delicious taste of its meals especially its mongo siopao which I truly missed.
