Spirit of Europe – Quick Burger

Until now the Spirit of Europe is still there with me. It’s been three weeks already after out trip to Belgium. We all know how great the place and the life they have in Belgium (and if given a chance, we like to have the life there also), but now we are starting appreciate lots of things in the Philippines having been abroad.

There’s a lot of things we appreciate here in the Philippines like free drinking water in the restaurants and fast food outlets, free comfort rooms almost everywhere for sample. There, almost everything has a cost. Nothing seems for free. We would even pay half a Euro just to pee in a public place, that’s P30 pesos. We ordered lots of food in Quick Burger chain. In that branch you can pee for free The food and the place are really great but expensive.

We were still dreaming of visiting Belgium again. Now we were just sending online greeting cards. Hopefully we could visit our brother and sister in-law again.

Gravenhof Castle

We were so lucky that we have been given a chance to attend my sister-in-law’s post wedding dinner in Belgium. The dinner was held in Gravenhof Castle located in Dworp, a small town in the municipality of Beersel, south of Brussels in Belgium.

This Castle was built for Baron Leroy in 1649. The castle was previously surrounded on all sides by water and access via a drawbridge. In the 19th century the four corner towers were added to the castle. This is now converted into a hotel, bar and restaurant. It is a famous place to hold events like wedding. The food was so great. I think I now need natural fat burners for all the foods I consumed that night.

The place is so beautiful. Having a formal dinner in a fine dining restaurant is not new to me but doing so the European way was a first experience. It was truly like having dinner with prominent royalties.

  • Qualities of a Flight Stewardess

I wonder what are recent requirements to become a flight stewardess. Since I was a kid, my impression has been that for one to become a flight stewardess, you must be beautiful, kind, modest, sweet and prioritizes the needs of the passengers. Flight attendants or cabin crew are other terms for stewards/stewardesses, likewise air hosts/hostesses. They are members of an aircrew employed by airlines primarily to ensure not only the safety but also the comfort of passengers aboard commercial flights.

I was so disgusted lately about the experience we have in a cabin crew of one of the Asian airlines we were into. They were not so accommodating, tactless and maybe not fully trained how to care of the passenger. They should know that they should somehow know that being in this job is also like being into sales jobs However, it seems that all they cared about is to finish their tasks during the flight which is to give foods and snacks to the passenger and nothing else. I promised myself not to be in this flight carrier of this I think a Chinese-owned aircraft again.

This is so unlike the other airlines where I had a nice experience such as the Etihad flight crew, both foreigners and Filipinas. They were accommodating and sensitive to the passengers’ needs.

  • LONDON Airport Stopover

If you happen to travel by plane and your stopover happens to be in London, you are very lucky. My family was once in transit in London international airport and suddenly our niece needed disposable diapers. I was amazed we could find such item here and realized what a family-friendly place it could be.

More news about our trip next time.

  • Flight Cancelled

Monday early morning was supposedly our flight to Belgium via Dubai. We were so excited that as early as possible, we were already in the airport because we had lots of baggage. We deposited all our lauggages and filled up all the neccessary documents from the immigration and just waited for the boarding time when suddenly, the flight crew announced that out scheduled flight was cancelled due to some technical problem. On my next post I will tackle all the bad experiences we had with out flight carrier. For a moment instead of sleeping on the plane on our flight to Belgium, my wife and I found ourselves wanting to play piano in Heritage Hotel in the Philippines.
